In this photograph, U.S. Navy Diver 2nd class Robert LaFrance explores the remnants of a wrecked vessel beneath the waters near Cartagena, Columbia in joint diving exercises between American naval personnel and divers for Columbia’s Departamento de Buceo y Salvamento (Investigation & Salvage) last week. LaFrance and other U.S. divers are part of a specially-trained team called the Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU-2), which is engaged in joint operations with military divers of partner nations in South and Central America.
