Coffee with cream in a Thursday Review mug

What Our Readers Are Saying

By Thursday Review readers | Saturday, January 4, 2014 |

Thursday Review's readers and followers send us their comments through a variety of means--emails, texts, messages on Facebook and Google, and through our blog site at Word Press. Wherever possible, we publish those comments and opinions here on our website. Here then are a few recent comments by our readers:

To Rewind is Kind; the End of Blockbuster Video:

Angie Cayne, Atlanta, GA: I miss Blockbuster. A great tradition for families and couples (my dates would sometimes take me there!). It was fun to look at the videos and decide, and more fun to look at the movie posters and cutouts!

Pete Camden, Denver, CO: My first job! And that was a big step up compared to my buds at McDonald’s or Burger King. I worked my way through college part-time renting videos. Hope I wasn’t rude to anyone.

Loraine @ AOL: Love your web magazine and the layout. Looks like a newspaper, which I guess is your goal. How do you do this without ads or subscription costs? Or is this a non-profit?

Kayla @t Yahoo: I always spend a half hour each morning with my coffee time looking over your blog.

Immigration and the Human Dimension; review of book by Jeb Bush:

Edmund V. Lake, Toronto: I could not help but comment on this book review: well-written, and well-timed.

Jackie Deacon, London: I have started making visits to your web magazine regularly to read the high-caliber stuff you post. One suggestion, however: give us more new content! Well done.

Josef Yacon, Israel: I believe you have an excellent blog, and I followed the links to your website and I was impressed. You have been duly bookmarked and I plan to return often. Offer more news! May you continue to guide others.

Ed Suggs @ gmail: I am liberal on immigration, but I do feel that all worked should be on the level and pay taxes and participate fairly. Don’t single them out because they look or talk diffently; but insist that they became a part of the economy. That helps everyone.

Thwarting Terror: How Much of Your Personal Data is Enough?:

David Caldwell, London, UK: Governments spy, we know this—it has been thus for decades. But the U.S. spy agency (when did the NSA outstrip the CIA in power and scope?) seems to have no qualms reaching everywhere and into every aspect of personal life? Even if the American courts halt it officially, what’s to stop the practice from continuing in secret?

Angela Cardiff, Dallas, TX: Interesting article, but seems to me you can have one or the other: an agency tracking the data automatically, or the reintroduction of terrorism into this country simply because we don’t have the stomach for what our security agents are doing.

Roger Carley @ at Yahoo: Your have a great blog and a good web mag. Lots of interesting content (though it seems all over the map) and I will likely visit again in the future. You strike a good balance—no shouting, which I like.

Richie Tipton: I support law enforcement and I support whatever technological security measures the U.S. needs; have no problem with full body screenings at airports or searches of my bags when I travel. But I don’t want the government snooping around my emails or text messages…not their business. Bring a warrant and you can have a look.

Keeping Those Lighters Aloft: Lynyrd Skynyrd 40 Years After Pronounced:

Nick in New Orleans: Rock and roll. This is the absolute truth. Great post dude.

Shirley in Daytona Beach, FL: These were great times (except the parts that weren't) and this was wonderful music. When I hear Skynyrd on the radio it brings back a flood of memory. Nicely researched item.
